Spain has a long history of producing good wine; the famous ones are the quality reds from the Rioja and Rivera del Duero, reds and whites from the Penedes, fine whites from Rueda, sherry from Jerez, and very sweet wine called "Vino Dulce" in Málaga. Choose the tour in the town that you want. You will enjoy your vacation tasting all kind of Spanish wine eating gourmet food!
Vino Dulce from Málaga
Location: The winery called Quita Pena in Malaga
It is deep brown, rich, taste similar to sherry, but very sweet wine, which was first produced by Greeks in 600 BC.
Málaga are mostly made from Pedro Ximinez grape, along with some muscat of Alexandria. There are about 16 types of wines in Málaga, with the following being the most common types:
- Lagrima - very sweet, free run
- Moscatel - sweet, aromatic, using the muscatel grapes only
- Pedro Ximinez - sweet, using the pedro ximinez grapes only
- Solera – it is also known as Sherry
Sherry from Jerez
Location: The winery “Tio Pepe” in Jerez
The grape varieties that are permitted by the regulatory body of Jerez are all white and are as follows: Palomino, Moscatel and Pedro Jimenez. Palomino is the predominant grape variety accounting for over 90%.
